How to Take Care of Your Computer Properly

Many users of computers or PC (Personal Computer) who do not think about doing routine maintenance of both the software and hardware used in the computer.

Maybe because some users do not know and are not familiar with this "maintenance" problem when this is very important.

How to Take Care of Your Computer Properly

Here are some activities that you should do regularly.

Cleaning Hardware

For owners of desktop computers, the CPU Casing as a place of various hardware installed should always be maintained. After a while, it is usually full of dust, as the fan that runs will also bring the dust into the Casing.

Every 3 to 6 months should be the condition in the Casing always in check. If it is filled with dust, you should immediately clean. If you can remove all the components and return them one by one, it will be better. Otherwise, simply take it to the open and cleaned it with a brush.

If the compressor is available, it is easier to clean the components inside. This cleaning is especially important if the processor fan or other fan is already full of dust, so the airflow is not functional anymore.

The Software to check the temperature of the computer components is also necessary so that at any time, you can monitor the temperature of various components. Can use the default software Motherboard (usually in CD/DVD driver) or other free software such as Speedfan, Hardware Monitor, and others.

System Maintenance (Software)

For the maintenance of computer systems (software), there are various routines that you should do to keep your computer working with better performance. Include the following:

Antivirus Updates

If the computer is using an antivirus, route it to update. Because antivirus without updates will not work effectively

Windows Update

For Windows Original, users should always regularly update both manual and automatic.

Computer scans with Antivirus

Although it has an antivirus installed, it is recommended to scan periodically to ensure the computer is free of malware/viruses and other harmful things.

Clean, unused files

The longer, usually, the number of files on the computer is more and more likely to be unused. The route to check and delete unused files. You can also use software such as CCleaner, TuneUp Utilities, Advanced System Care and others (first make sure to check what settings will be removed before using the software)

Backup routine Important data

When the computer is full of relevant data such as tasks, reports, theses, or other data, don't forget to do a backup. Easiest to compress all critical data with programs such as 7Zip, WinZip, Winrar, and the like.

Further backup data can be saved in separate media either external HDD, CD ROM, DVD ROM or stored online in "Cloud Service" such as DropBox, Box.net and others as long as it is ensured safe first (can be encrypted, give the password to its zip file)

Check programs running with System/Windows

To do this, write "msconfig" in the command run and look for the "Startup" tab and remove the checkmark that you think is not too necessary.

Defragment Hardisk

When it's too long, the hard disk needs to be routine in defrag (but not too often). First, check if your hard disk needs to defrag or not. You can use the default Windows program (from the Accessories menu > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter) or use third-party free software such as Auslogics Disk Defrag.

Various things above may be a routine activity that you can do, and you can all also be able to do other routines according to the needs of each.
